2014 Opening Day On The Bay – UPDATE

I’ve waited to see if the forecast might improve, and it’s a bit better, but not good enough. While others may be out there, we won’t be. Rain and winds of 22 gusting 30 is not a recipe for a good time…and a low tide at 5pm when we return to the cove sealed the deal.

For reasons of weather and low participation, the TIYC Opening Day on the Bay cruise is hereby cancelled.

Sunday is a good day to stay home and watch sailing channel.

We’ll try again soon.

Opening Day is less than a week away (Sunday, April 27, 2014).

Instead of doing the parade, we will participate in the blessing of the fleet in racoon straight (Corinthian YC) then cruise over to Sausalito to enjoy the afternoon wandering downtown.

9:30 Meet at the club
10:30 cruise to CYC (Raccoon Straight)

The Tigress “turns left”

“Where will you go?”
“Out the Gate and hang a left…”

That’s been the plan and the dream for a very long time. And that’s what we did.

Beautiful San Francisco Bay put on a show, sparkling in the morning light just to make sure we’d know what we are missing. There was a big sloppy swell running off the coast – a bit of a bronco ride. Tigress took it in stride. The bilges and Elena’s baking supplies are still dry. It seemed like any other daysail, except the dock box is empty and the mail forwarded.

After anchoring at Half Moon Bay we opened a special bottle of wine and toasted new adventures. And maybe a nap. We’re anchored in a beautiful sheltered spot near the Maverick’s surf spot and God’s golf tee.

Tonight we’ll decide where and when we go next, or we’ll decide to decide another day.

We miss you already.

Great Time – EYC Cruise-In

We had a great time at TIYC with the folks from Encinal YC cruising in for their annual Easter weekend.
Thanks to the following members;  Reg Smith, Pete & Connie VanPutten, for giving up their weekend to provide support on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Thanks to Anthony & Helene Cirillo for stepping in as OD to cover for Barb & Randy Himes at the last minute and  Lynette Breed, Bill Goswick & Mia Navarro for helping put on the dinner.

We were treated to a wonderful display after dinner as the rain let up for a Rainbow above the new span of the Oakland Bay Bridge.
