America’s Cup 34 Race Area Announced

The America’s Cup Event Authority has released a map of the racing area for America’s Cup 34, and lo and behold, it looks a lot like what AC Race Management Director Iain Murray said it would back in early January. Roughly shaped like an animal cracker, the boundaries of the racing area encompass the entire Central Bay and the coolest thing about the current plan is that spectator boats will actually be able to not only be within the area’s confines, but also take a front-row spot on the city front to boot! This looks like it could turn out to be a giant charlie-foxtrot, but having spectators up close and personal will make for some compelling visuals, as well as providing a sense of scale for non-boating viewers: a 130-ft tall wing-mast will probably make a 130-ft mini mega yacht look pedestrian. Check out the ideal location Treasure Island affords!
