ABC’s of Boating Class (2 Days – Oct 22 & 29)

ABC3 Class Agenda_Fall 2016_v2

Come and learn…. At the TIYC University

What? The basics of boating, Sail or Power

Many of our new members said they had little boating experience/skills, but would like to learn. So TIYC has partnered with the Diablo Chapter of the United States Sail and Power Squadron, to provide some basic boating skills in a class called “The ABCs of Boating”

Click here for the ABC Class Agenda_Fall 2016_v2

This 2 day class is being offered on 2 consecutive Saturdays: October 22 and 29. An all day class, you will learn about navigation aids (and what the word means), lights and sound signals, government regulations (for you and your boat), anchoring, departing and returning to a dock (without big bumps or yelling), trailering, and much more. While you won’t get to operate a boat during this class, you will become more confident (and proficient) when we get to that step.

So, whether you are new to the subject, want a refresher, want to see if “things have changed since I first learned this”, or want to bring (and sponsor) someone who is just a beginner….

The instruction is free; you just pay for the book and additional materials ($35). Couples may chose to buy one book for both of you.

RSVP by October 10 to Rich & Mary Holden,     RichSail@aol.com

Ahoy all Sailors!

The 4th of July is fast approaching.  We are having our traditional Chili Cook Off at the New Clubhouse.  This will be our first official event in our new space, so come join the fun and check out our fabulous clubhouse!!  The flyer is attached here, so put the date on your calendars now.  Atta and I will send out a sign up sheet after we return from our daughter Arianna’s wedding in the Dominican Republic!!

Please think about making your most spectacular recipe of chili to bring to the club.  I will bet we can plug in a gazillion crock pots without blowing a fuse!! AND, we have a real in-club bathroom, two full size refrigerators, two wonderful working stoves, and a dishwasher (the mechanical kind, not the human kind)!  Its always a fun time at TIYC!!  Hope to see you there!   Alice and Atta

Alameda YC Cruise In to Clipper Cove 6/11

TIYC has received a request from the Alameda YC to cruise in and have a Pirate Burger Dinner at our new club house on June 11th.
Our Commodore has said “let’s do this.”  The same weekend the Unofficial Washedup Yacht Club is planning a mega raft up in Clipper Cove.

Will is hoping that “this probable event” the weekend before the Sailstice will have a good turnout.

Moving Days, June 4 & 5

Dear All,

On June 4 and June 5 (if we need it) we will have work days to move what remains in the old club to the New Club. So that everyone has some idea where things go, attached is draft of a STORAGE PLAN.

ELEMENTARY STORAGE PLAN 1

There are many facets of this (packing, throwing out unnecessary/unused items, transporting, storing, etc). Please take a look at the draft plan and let us know what you think. We hope this will allow storage of all our necessary stuff. We will leave copies of this plan (with additions as they come in) in the old club and the new club.

Note that we still have to 1) Finish digging the base and move the Blue storage shed, 2) Mount and raise the flagpole. However, this may not get done at this time. Hopefully the carpet will be installed this coming week so the lounge chairs & coffee table can be moved onto the carpeted deck.

Afterwards, maybe we can have a celebration drink or party.

Enjoy

Mal & Jan
