Farallones Marine Sanctuary Pt. Bonita Lighthouse Walk

8/2/2012 Hello everyone: I received a notice from Nature News yesterday about this unique walking tour of Farallones Marine Sanctuary Pt. Bonita Lighthouse. In anticipation for a prompt blacktop event I contacted the organizer to see if they can accommodate a group tour for our members. I was told that they can hold up to 20 spots for us for the next five days. Please let me know if you are interested to join us. RSVP by Tuesday, 8/7. Thanks in advance, Atta (415) 748-0374

Like a sentinel at the Golden Gate the Pt. Bonita Lighthouse guides vessels safely through the mouth of San Francisco Bay. Built in 1855, this venerable lighthouse has lit the way for over 157 years. The last manned lighthouse on the West Coast, it overlooks two great sanctuaries: Gulf of the Farallones, and northern Monterey Bay marine sanctuary. A ranger and sanctuary marine naturalist lead this exclusive walking tour of our maritime heritage, wildlife and geology of the Marin Headlands and Pt. Bonita.

DATE/TIME: Saturday, Aug 18, 2012 10:00a to 12:00p
WHERE: Point Bonita Lighthouse, Marin Headlands/GGNRA, Sausalito, CA
COST: $15 per person

SEA WORTHY and BLUE WATER SAILING WORKSHOP, 8/4

We are planning for our first Open Water Cruise-out event to Half Moon Bay tentatively for the first part of September.
In preparation for the cruise-out, Rich Holden graciously has agreed to offer a safety and seaworthy workshop on Saturday August 4th from 9am to 4pm at TIYC. This is a free workshop for TIYC members. This should be a very informative session and I encourage you to attend even if you are not planning for open sea sailing. This is a hands-on workshop so please RSVP to me if are you planning to join us.  There is no plan for lunch accommodations but please feel free to bring your own or get lunch next door at the cafe.
The Half Moon Bay cruise-out will be led by Steve Lane and as soon as we pinpoint a date I’ll send out an announcement.

Also, remember that on the evening of August 4th we are having our annual International Dinner. The theme for this year is Spain. This should be a fun dinner event and I hope you’ll plan to join us.
Thanks, Atta
