TIYC George Knies Memorial Crab Feed, (Feb. 27th)

TIYC Crab feed 2016

UPDATE:

Please see the full sized linked TIYC Crab feed 2016 flyer and
RSVP (click here) with pre-payment as this is expected to sell out.

Hi Everyone,

The Crab Fest is happening!  Really!

As mentioned (Jan 13) when we delayed it, the date is confirmed: February 27th.

This will be the last big event in our old clubhouse, so come say good bye to our long-time home before we start moving everything to our new location.

Past Commodores:

Like last year, we are asking our Past Commodores to take charge of serving at this event, and this is the real purpose of this note.  We need the Past Commodores to belly up to the bar and lead the charge, so we are reserving the first tickets for Past Commodores and their mates, but we need your names now. If you’re a Past Commodore, please Reply to this email (please do not Reply All), and let me know you’re coming.

All Members:

Atta and MeeSun are working on a new RSVP/Reservation/Advance Ticket Sales that they hope to roll-out in the next day or two.  Tickets will be $50 paid online in advance, with a limit of 50 tickets.  We will increase that number if weather looks great and we can make use of outdoor seating. We ask that you purchase as early as possible, and purchase only two (2) tickets so that many members may participate.  If seats remain by next weekend, MeeSun will email a notice and then you may purchase tickets for your guests.

We promise this will be the most memorable Crab Fest we have ever produced, with more delectable fresh Dungeness Crab than all of us can eat, so plan meals accordingly.  Come hungry, eat mass quantities of crab.

Treasure Island Museum night, 9/12/2015

by Will Smith.

Click here to see the flyer and download details. TIYC-TIM_09-12-2015

Please join two of Treasure Island’s most cherished organizations, the Treasure Island Museum (TIM) and Treasure Island Yacht Club (TIYC), for an evening of discovery with our nearby friends.

As you already know, Treasure Island is soon to begin redevelopment, and this means that some of the anchor organizations will move to new locations. Before that happens, let’s have a party! Both organizations have full schedules. Saturday September 12th is the best date both groups have before colder weather sets in.

We’ll start with “Behind the Scenes” at the Treasure Island Museum: Please join our Collections Manager, Brianna Jilson, when she takes us into the archives to see some of the highlights from our collection.

TIYC will open the bar with chips and snacks while the chef toils over a hot grill to serve your choice of Prime Rib Steaks, Salmon Steaks, or Giant Portobello Mushrooms with several salads and sides followed by coffee and dessert. $20pp.

After coffee and dessert, TIM board president, Walt Bilofsky, will aim his telescope toward the skies in the tradition of San Francisco’s own Sidewalk Astronomers in a classic Star Party. Learn what the Mobjects are, see the rings of Saturn and Mountains on the Moon…weather permitting.

Semi-official timeline:

4pm TIYC bar opens with snacks.
5pm TIM Behind-the-Scenes tour of the Museum.
6pm TIYC Steak Dinner.
7pm TIYC coffee and dessert.
8pm TIYC short walking tour of the cove to the new TIYC location.
9pm TIM Star Party – discover the stars…until whenever.

==================

Hi Everyone (again),

One week after the New Members Appreciation Dinner, we have my special day – Our celebration of St. Paddy’s Day on March 14th, with Shamrock Shenanigans.  Perhaps a race, perhaps a cruise, but we’ll have food for sure.  Can anyone guess what it will be?

Don’t be left out of this one.  It’s a chance to get out on the water and come back to the club for a great meal for less money than you would spend if you did it yourself.

We’ll start somewhat early, so plan on being ready to roll out onto the water around 10am or so.

When was that again?  March 14th: 10am cruise/race training/play on the water, dinner at 5:30.

Mark your calendars!

— Will Smith —

Hi Everyone,  March 14th–come one come all–to the 164th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade starting at noon at 2nd & Market Sts.  You can then have a wonderful Irish dinner at Treasure Island Yacht Club.  IT’S A GREAT DAY FOR THE IRISH!!!  Don & Cathy
